[How to Find a recipe]
A Quick Overview -
Using Find:
To find a specific recipe, a combination of information may be needed, but sometimes it can be as simple as typing a recipe name and clicking the Find button. Using a keyword in conjunction with the pop-up menus is a really powerful way to find a recipe or a group of them.
Using Search:
When you type a Keyword like "peas" in the Pow
er Search area CookWare Deluxe goes on a massive hunt looking in every recipe for any occurrence of the word "peas". It checks the recipe Name and each of the three Ingredients fields and the Directions.
Using Find - Examples:
Lets say for instance that you're looking for an Italian style Fish Pie you entered into CookWare Deluxe awhile back and now you can't remember the name. If you were to type the word "pie" into the Recipe Name area and hit Find your search results may include Chichic
from your Word Processor into CookWare Deluxe drag the whole recipe (Title, Ingredients and Directions) into the directions area since it's the biggest field and then drag the different parts of the recipe to their appropriate area.
Printing Options.
You can print an Index of all recipes for quick reference or you can print a single recipe with a photo or a group of recipes known as a "Create Menu". Recipes can be printed to fit in a three-ring binder. Photos are not printed with Creat
e Menu or three-ring binder printing.

[C] Categorizing
Categorizing recipes is
very useful because it gives specific detail to a recipe that can be used when trying to find a certain kind of recipe. Example: "Greek, Low Cal, Dessert". Each Category contains a predefined list of words that you can choose from. You can also edit the lists.
[COURSE] Choose the type of recipe such as "Appetizer" "Grilling" "Soup" etc.
[REGION] Choose the area of the world the recipe originates from.
[WINE] Choose the wine you think compliments the recipe.

Your email software preference needs to be set in your OS X System preferences. Open System Preferences (Looks like a light switch icon) click the Internet icon, then the Email tab; select the email software you use from the drop down Default Email Reader list. If your reader isn

How to Scale a Recipe?
The idea behin
d CookWare Deluxe is that you don't have to fill out a bunch of fields- just drag and drop. However that eliminates your ability to adjust a recipe's serving size. Now you can! Just go to the conversions layout and enter a fraction and the quantity you want the recipe adjusted by and click Calculate. Example 2/3 X 6 = 4.
How do I Edit a Recipe?
Start by downloading several recipes from the Internet. Open them in a word processor or Recipe Cleaner. Read the recipes to see if they're comple
te and then spell check them. Now "drag and drop" your recipe into CookWare Deluxe.
Font Reserve Users
If you use Font Reserve's Font handler feature to simplify your system fonts it will no doubt move or turn off many system typefaces including the typeface "Verdana". CookWare Deluxe uses this very readable typeface to display it's recipes. If "Verdana" is turned off CookWare Deluxe won't display correctly. To make "Verdana" available all the time simply open the Font Reserve Browser. S
elect the "V" category button, select "Verdana" and click the Activate Permanently Button. That's it.
Can I change the typefaces in CookWare Deluxe?
Yes, they can be changed one at a time, but not globally (all at once)
This is a limitation of FileMaker. PLEASE NOTE
If you change your recipes typefaces by hand your changes will be reset to the original typeface (Verdana) when CookWare Deluxe updates are installed on your computer - this is not the fault of CookWare Deluxe, FileMaker r
aesets them.
Can I save changes to CookWare Deluxe's recipes?
If you make changes to one of the recipes that comes with CookWare Deluxe or recipe sets you
ll need to check the "My Recipe" checkbox in order to keep these changes the next time CookWare Deluxe is updated; otherwise the changes will be lost when updating to a new version CookWare Deluxe.

[How To Use CookWare Deluxe]
Using Pull-down menus.
After you register CookWare Deluxe most of the pull-down menus will still be dimmed. Adding, deleting, printing etc. are all accomplished using the on-screen buttons. Saving is automatic. However, some pull-down menus are used to automate several functions in CookWare Deluxe. They are:
[Printing Preferences] Allows user to hide or show page setup and print dialogs when printing. Useful for using custom s
ize paper etc.
[Delete Duplicates] Removes recipes with the same Name and Ingredients. CookWare Deluxe compares the recipe
s Name and Ingredients before deleting it, that way you can have more than one recipe for Peanut Butter cookies.
[Fix Typeface] After Dragging and Dropping a recipe into CookWare Deluxe the typeface can change. This can effect how the recipe is printed. Use Fix Typeface to put things back to normal.

[How To Add Photos]
You can add a photo by clicking the "Place Photo" button. Then you'll need to locate the photo on your Hard Drive. You'll notice a checkbox that gets automatically checked that says "Recipe Contains Photo". This is used to find recipes that contain photos. If you would like to remove the photo, use the "Clear Photo" button (this also deselects the "Recipe Contains Photo" checkbox).
A note about photos: Photos can not exported due to a limitation of FileMaker. When
you upgrade to a newer version of CookWare Deluxe you will have to transfer the photos by hand. Photos can change the file size of CookWare Deluxe significantly. However the photo and the photo thumbnails use the same photo saving space.
Tip - The easiest way to acquire a Photo is to drag the photo from your Web browser onto your desktop or save it to your Hard Drive. Then go back to CookWare Deluxe and click the "Place Photo" button.

You can send a recipe to a group of people by separating each recipient with a comma and a space i.e. friend@comer.com, friend@comer.com, friend@comer.com, friend@comer.com
